Have seen Automatons before. Not nearly as terrible as it has been made out to be on IMDB, although it is hardly a classic, either: very much a shaky first effort by a talented beginner (that will probably look better in retrospect if its director ever follows it up with a real oevre). Comparisons to Guy Maddin and David Lynch by some internet reviewers are based purely on a very superficial observation of the visual style: Misters McKenney and Hale had obviously watched Eraserhead and Pi (and a lot of silent movies) beforehand, but their film does not resemble those others in any other way.
No relevant content, in my opinion (some may disagree); hope some people here give it a chance anyway (I have a soft spot for talented beginners).
