Doctor Who: The End of Time Part 2

Post by DukeNukem 2417 » Tue Dec 29, 2009 8:57 am

Since my thread about Part 1 was so well received, I'm starting this one about Part 2. Feel free to discuss David Tennant's impact on the show, your opinions on how Matt Smith (the actor who will be playing the Eleventh Doctor) will fare, and other Doctor Who-related stuff. Personally, I want to see the Tenth Doctor's regeneration into the Eleventh Doctor; hopefully, it'll be as memorable as the Ninth Doctor's regeneration into the Tenth. (Who can forget that immortal line: "New teeth...that's weird.")

my mate has an comic/toy shop and gets advanced images of the next doctor who action figures , and the matt smith figure in tennants costume looks all beaten up and ript and as for the end of time part 2 trailer you can see tennant bleeding, so im going for an new year count down and the doctor gives his life to save the earth , not sure how he will stop all the masters but can see the clock hitting 12 as he goes into regenerattion. :?

None of those have the pictures of the figures, but they do show the Eleventh Doctor, which is always good. Thanks for the links.

I was really enjoying it. Great ideas, Timelords, Wilf, it was perfect.

For a while I was thinking that RTD had written a masterpiece and then he went back to his old tricks. Plot hammer, deus-ex-machina interventions and the even more impossible menace from beyond that nobody can stop even the doctor ...

The story lost all pacing and we had to go through another round of silly soppy melodrama (didn't we say goodbye to Rose about five times over already ?)

The actual end was fantastic and hit the new series off with a major bang.

I'm really glad RTD's watch is over. He's great with characters, he is a master at handling plotlines, but he can't help pull of deus ex machinas all the time like Donna's sudden "trick" in this episode.

The worst problem with RTD is that while he tries to top one epic storyline after another, he ends up cheapening everything in the series. Taking away all drama. He's like the guy in Gremlins II "The new and improved Casablanca, in colour and with a happy end !"

Better pacing etc, would have made this a near perfect episode.

Simply put, The End of Time Part 2 was well worth the wait. From the comedy bit with the Vinvocci to the Tenth Doctor's final words ("I don't want to go"), the whole episode was just amazing. Donna's "trick" wasn't as big a dealberaker as I expected, and as for the Eleventh Doctor...well, let's just say that I think he'll be one of the more exciting Doctors in the show's history.
