I'm something of a Green Lantern fan, and I've been looking forward to this movie for a while. Reynolds seems like an...odd choice, but I've liked him in everything I've seen him in, and I'm sure he can pull off. A bigger concern is how this will affect the Deadpool movie.

Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern?

I'm a huge Green Lantern fan from way back....and Reynolds seems to be a pretty decent choice.... Heck, they were even considering JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE!!! --- SO YEAH, they went in the right direction with Ryan Reynolds. Green lantern is a tricky hero to pull off, if it's handled RIGHT, I will be there FIRST in line.... if it's handled incorrectly, the whole thing will look cartoony and against any seriousness the character could convey. For a while, I wondered about a LIVE ACTION PLASTIC MAN movie.... got one that was close with THE MASK, but back when I was thinking about who could be PLAS ... well... I wanted PAUL REUBENS, (PeeWee Herman) because he would look just like Jack Cole's original.......and I KNOW he could pull the character off, he IS a good actor. Nowadays, if they considered doing a PLASTIC MAN movie.... they'd probably want to cast DANE COOK, or ADAM SANDLER. back on topic........I sure can't wait to see Green Lantern in action.... with Kilwog and Sinestro too.......--minkwheel

A Plastic Man movie would be great, but it's highly unlikely, sadly. DC is extremely hesitant to do any outside-of-comics projects unless Superman and/or Batman are involved. We're lucky we're even getting a Green Lantern movie.

Plas has gained a bit of ground in popularity as has BLUE BEETLE due to the new BATMAN BRAVE AND BOLD series, and DC takes notice with things like that.... Ruby Spears' PLASTIC MAN COMEDY ADVENTURE SHOW from '79 gets released on DVD in September! (There's a very brief scene where Penny is turned into a robot for a minute too) ---I know that a Plastic Man movie is a big longshot ...they're still up in arms over a WONDER WOMAN movie, if it EVER gets off the ground. ---but YEAH, to satisfy Joe and Mary Average movie goer ...they have to stick with Bats and Supes, While I was screening WATCHMEN, I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES I HEARD IDJITS in the background saying things like 'BATMAN LOOKS DIFFERENT IN THIS ONE" .....WHO'S THE BLUE DOUCHE?" IS SHE SUPPOSED TO BE A RIPOFF OF WOLVERINE? -- I truly wanted to stand up and say READ THE BOOKS PEOPLE!! -- but then, I'd be spilling my $10 bag of popcorn and watered down Pepsi. Can't let that happen, or the Terrorists win. -- MINKWHEEL

As the avatar implies, I'm a big Watchmen fan (well, actually Alan Moore in general, but Watchmen is included in that), and while reactions like that are to be expected, since most people haven't read the comic, it doesn't make them less stupid.
I remember when the original teaser trailer showed, most people were utterly confused, and I was forced to put up with a storm of "What an X-Men rip-off!" and "Is that guy Batman?" and "So is the blue guy evil?"
Then the movie came out and those same mature people went "BLUE PENIS BLUE PENIS BLUE PENIS", and I began to miss when they just thought Dr. Manhattan was the villain.

Still.... people DID give it a shot, and came out to see the film. I never thought that it would be the merchandising BLITZ for the year either... kids playing with Happy Meal figures, and carrying WATCHMEN LUNCHBOXES... and playing the DR MANHATTAN version of OPERATION by MILTON BRADLEY ... it really doesn't lend itself to that.... I wonder what cool extras are on the two disc dvd. I'll get it and the special CORALINE two disker ... Hmmmm ....Moore and Gaiman released on the same day..... YEAH baby. -minkwheel

I bought the 2-disc Director's Cut. (Both on DVD and Blu-Ray.) I've yet to see any of the special features yet, but the extra scenes are pretty cool if you have three hours.
