I blame Hollywood writers. Everybody who's ever gotten rave reviews for a fanfic or ran a decent D&D campaign has had aspirations to make it to Hollywood.
There seems to be the assumption that a single good idea can be endlessly be stretched into movies and properties. I believe there are 5-second ideas, 17-minute ideas, 2-hour ideas, sentence ideas, five-page ideas, trillogy ideas etc. Trying to milk an idea beyond its time value will ruin it.
"Hey, I got this cool idea."
"What ?"
"What if ... Skynet was actually ... wait for it ... Sarah Connor ?"
"That is the coolest idea !"
"Yeah, she dies of cancer, but her brain ends up inside Skynet and she knows all about tactics and knows she how to take out her own son etc ..."
"Wait, why would Sarah try to kill her own son ?"
"Hold on, I have another idea, we could have Sarah Connor Terminators !!!"
"Wow ! Best irony ever ! Let's do it !"

Wow, and I thought the writing assignments my class had to do in 8th grade sounded childish.....Rotwang wrote: "Hey, I got this cool idea."

Elvis Lives. Not in this timeline, but in quite a few others.

I have yet to see the last few episodes, but I entertained the idea that the human personality coded into Cameron's body was actually Sarah - or could become Sarah, through time-travel induced revision.
Her "love" for John was hard for her to sort out. Not nearly as sexual as it could have been.
Maybe scenes in the final episodes contradict my premise, but 2/3 through season 2 I haven't seen anything which thoroughly contradicted the possibility.

BTW, did nobody ever think that the proper way to stop Judgment Day was to go back in time and convince the Nuclear Command Authority that it needs to improve the access control of the launch systems so that a malfunctioning computer programme can't launch an attack.
FYI I have some knowledge of the NC2 technology and there is no way that a sentient non-human entity or malfunctioning non-sentient programme could ever cause an unauthorized weapon release. There are multiple physical interlocks and any software involved is formally modeled and hard burned onto chips in a trusted fab.
Now, Skynet shutting down the power or crashing the internet and financial systems would be a much more plausable storyline.

Truck begs for "Sarah Connor" movie

"Terminator: TSCC" fans haven't given up hope. They recently purchased a truck with a "Terminator" billboard to drive around L.A. asking for a movie.
