No its not the blood its the fact that the story in game bad voice acting and all were much better. it would have been ok if the homicidal A.I. won in the first movie zand they called it We never intended to film Resident Evil so we made this film. Just my opinio here. I played and beat the first game way before the movie, and think they should have fallowed the game script exact.

Here is my opinion. I think that if movies based on video games were to follow the exact same script as the games, some movies would not make it. Could you imagine watching a movie like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat for example where all they do is fight each other no matter what side they are like in the game? Would have been kinda sad if you asked me.

But you gotta admit, sometimes they movie is better then the game. Or in some movie you have to play a the game to get the movie. Movie like Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.

If the first Resident Evil movie, had followed the game script, I would have walked out of the theater after "DON'T open THAT door!"

I think that the overall point here is that the Resident Evil movies have about as much in common with the games as the Silent Hill movie has with Singin' in the Rain...that is to say, very, VERY little. Of course they couldn't follow the game's plot exactly, and I use the word "plot" as loosely as possible. Instead, they should have opted to do a fleshed out adaptation rather than a complete rewrite. Really, in the third movie, if you took out every cited example of the word "umbrella" and named the movie title something else, no one would guess that it was related to Resident Evil.

The same goes for Silent Hill. The strength of that whole game series is heavily dependent on its plot, which is so Lovecraftian in its psychological mobius that it easily could have held its own in a movie adaptation. All of the elements for a truly stellar movie were there, but the director simply wasn't talented enough---or intelligent enough---to recognize that. The result was a movie that attempted everything, achieved nothing, and filled in the gaps with crap that didn't belong.

I noted the other day that on the box of the Dead or Alive movie that some critic said that it was the best movie adaptation of a video game thus far.

Now THAT I have to see...

they can't end it that way. It screams for a sequel. the Corporation is still alive. they have to make a 4th.

I agree Kishin, on several points. Truth be told, SH had me riveted to my seat for the first half hour. Many things about it were good, and I recognized the homages immediately; most notably (and this got a big plus from me) the camera angles. I just think that they would have been wiser, even if it were a complete reworking, to stick with either the first or second game's plot, rather than trying to mash it all together.

Then again, I do have high expectations for movies.

And you're right---SH2 is the best, and a fantastic game. Though, I really love the first, and very much the fourth.

By the way, rumor has it that Neil Gaiman is lending a hand with the script for the next SH movie, where the director promised to fix all the problems with the first movie. Hope that's true...

O_o you can actually win against corporations?! .... well... ok, the third one was a movie about zombies that seems to have taken "planet terror" plot and tried to make it serious (failing miserably), but listen to yourself, even in a movie like that do you think people can win against a corporation?!
