"The Price is Right" does it again!

Post by Doctor Robo » Wed Apr 05, 2006 2:22 pm

I was passing by a TV at work today that happened to be on "The Price is Right". The show was near the end, at the Showcase Showdown. Lo and behold, what do I see but one of "Bob's Beauties" dressed like a robot, pointing out the various prizes up for bid! She was acting very stiff and mechanical, and there was a second girl 'helping' her to move around the set. She even had on a silver dress, and some sort of antenna on her head. It was pretty neat to watch, even if it was just for a few seconds.

Why can't they tell us about these things in advance so we can tape the show?

I managed to click save just as I saw her. The models listed for that show are. Models: Rachel Reynolds, Gwendolyn Osborne, Gabrielle Tuite and as far as I can tell it would seem Rachel was the robot. It was a showcase with Glitch the malfunctioning robot. She also continued to move robotically during the credits. You could see her in the background. Was very surprising and very nice.

Well thanks to DVR I have it saved to watch again. I was just lucky enough to click the record button before it went off. The only info I had was who the models had been.

Not that I know of. If anyone else knows how I would be more than happy to save and send it on.

You could always start with a digital picture!

If you know anyone with a DVD recorder, you could record to the DVD, and then converting to AVI is as simple as downloading DivX's DVD converter.

Cornelius is on the right track. You can record it to DVD (or even VHS), and then send it to someone to have it digitize.

Just whatever you do...PLEASE...don't delete it. ;)

:) Have not deleted. I do not have any way to put it on DVD so I am trying to borrow a recorder from a friend. If I recorded it to VHS I still wouldn't have a way to get it into my computer. So I am stuck. Will keep trying though.

Big thanks. I'm sure if you got to either DVD or VHS, you could send it to someone who would be willing to digitize it for you. (I hope.)

DVD recorder is the best bet, since there would only go (briefly) analog to the DVD. If you record to VHS first, then you've got multiple analog points, and the tape has its own limitations as well. This might've not occurred to you, but most electronics stores are pretty generous with return policies, if you were to, say, buy 1, record the bit to DVD, then return it. :-)

So after doing a little homework, there might be a second chance for someone to get this to share with everyone.

TPiR is shown in Canada (on the PRIME network) on about a four-week delay. So the episode that ran on April 5th, should reair in Canada around the first week fo May.

So, does anyone in the Great White North want to take on the challenge of recording this and digitizing it for the masses?

Please? :D

One more bump!

The episode in question is scheduled to air this Wednesday in Canada on the PRIME network. If someone would grab vidcaps and/or video of "GLITCH," I would be singing your praises for quite some time to come.

Okay, maybe not singing, but definitely talking good about ya! ;)

REBUMP!

This episode featuring "Glitch the Robot" is scheduled to air on Wednesday, August 16th.

I will do my best to get some vidcaps, but if someone could capture a video clip of this, I know the community would be very grateful. Thanks!

Yikes! Just imagine how relieved a TPIR freak is when they find out there are others who obsess about that show too.

I bet the first thing they say is, "Wow, I thought I was the only one whose universe revolves around Bob Barker!"

The price is wrong, bitch...
