Thank you for your unique input on the topic, NightBattery. If we're gonna make robots, let's make 'em our friends.--NightBattery-- wrote: ↑Wed Oct 25, 2017 7:51 pm I like all type of robots.
Even cyborgs count for me,
I see in robot technology a potential new creative tool for the man of the future.

I think robotics will be a key element for the survival of our species and the incorporation of new materials into nature's physical information systems, the means for a homo deus independently of how dread or grand the transition is.
I am just human and I cant help visualize my type of humans as those things, and I can't help see my things as more perfect if they sport parts that resemble the parts I like in my type of humans.
If you think that sentence was frivolous, wait till ethics and politics need to do something about it~
Artificial intelligence one day will be a racial slur.
But I have a lesbian friend who thinks it is just logical that males eventually became extinct in nature so maybe I am just justifying my damaged psyche.

Besides a mild taboo element I won't go into much, robots/androids/machines are the ultimate expression of perfection and consent. A machine would never (assuming precautions were taken) do something you'd not like. They have the ultimate "safe word" as you can trust they would do as you said. A robot would be the ultimate partner; they'd never forget an important date, they'd always want to do what you are interested in doing, they would always have time for you, they would never betray you or hurt your feelings. They come with no emotional baggage. When you want them, they are there, when you don't then they are perfectly fine without you. You never feel pressure to do something and one could be happy together just existing near each other. I know my answer might sound boring though.
But you see, you can't differentiate between a robot and the very best of humans. ~ Isaac Asimov (I, Robot)

Re: The core nature of your interest...?
For me it's really the combination of soft beautiful femininity contrasted against the cold strong artificial nature of a machine. Especially when the visual distinction between the two is subtle or revealed via something robotic in their interior. For example Ava in ex machina with her human hands and beautiful face but transparent body making a strong contrast or the T-X in terminator 3 when her liquid metal switches between human skin and the hard metal skeleton inside. I'm not particularly into the whole control or obedience aspect of it and prefer more sentient type consciousness. Malfunctions are hit and miss for me and I think it can go overboard quite easily and lose the human element that is critical for me. Minor glitches especially with audible motor sounds for example really work in demonstrating artificiality while maintaining the human appearance. I really wonder how I would feel about a realistic robot in reality, would I see it as a more of a sex doll that I have no interest in or like a prostitute I wouldn't be interested in either.

Re: The core nature of your interest...?
Imagine being friends with a beautiful woman, maybe having a crush on her, maybe thinking about her at night. Dreaming about a beautiful life you could have with her, kissing, going on dates, watching movies, having children, and living a long and happy life.
Even now she's a great friend, she's funny and smart. She knows her way around social situations and is always in great shape.
The perfect woman, you're so lucky to have met her.
So anyways, one day you visit her, and she is standing there frozen with her maintenance panels open.
The woman you knew, the woman you loved, is nothing more than an extremely complicated and overengineered object. There is no light behind her eyes, no understanding or comprehension. She is just a bunch of directives and orders written into a lifeless shell. A toy to be used and then discarded.
A lot of people in this thread talked about how uncomfortable the concept of robot slavery is, but don't worry, she doesn't have a soul. Anything in her mind can just get reprogrammed. You can destroy her and it won't matter because she isn't alive.
Then her panel closes and she turns on, but she doesn't realize.
She doesn't realize you saw her, and she doesn't realize she is a machine.
She thinks she is human, she doesn't even know she is an object.
To her understanding, she is just a person who has as much autonomy and emotion as any other person around her.
Then she moves to you, presses your navel, and when you regain consciousness she has reprogrammed you into her sex toy.
You are not even just a toy, you are a toy made for toys. Possibly the lowliest possible ranking something can have on the hierarchy. Everything she is applies to you but worse.
If this feels horrifying, yeah.
Also machines are hot, like cars.
