Magic Powered Fembots

Post by maax » Wed Jul 29, 2009 6:00 am

I am working on a storyline which involves Fembots using Elementals for their power core and 'superpowers'. The elemental has an effect on the programmed operation of the Fembot, but ultimately the Fembot is operated by it's program, built with motors and wires and frames.

The pole is basically, does the magical 'core' of these Fembots make the characters less interesting for people on this forums?

(( Perhaps this should be in discussion, but it's leading towards a story. ))

I have been contemplating a number of story world's where Techno-Magic is in effect instead of our more science based tech. It's fun to think about tech fembots being converted into magic based ones, maybe with clockwork instead of circuits.

I think it's fine. As long as the car moves, I don't care much what fuel you use. I have a slight problem with the 'superpower' magic, because I worry that it'll become a story about superpowers rather than a story about robots and clash thematically with the board.

Magic-powered fembots

Post by Teknophile » Wed Jul 29, 2009 7:28 pm

Sounds like fun! If you look in the story archive, there are a couple of great stories by Kriegsaffe No. 9 that feature fembots like this, along with some interesting steampunk elements, like wind-up keys and gear-and-spring type internals. If you feel like writing something similar, I'd love to see it!

Add in one more "Aye," or "Yea" from me.
IMHO writing science-fiction shouldn't have any arbitrary "rules," and some awfully good work came out of those creative-types that "thought outside the box," in today's lingo.

Take my avatar here, for instance. Both the "Kill Oscar" and "Fembots In Las Vegas" fembots were quite capable of killing human beings, if ordered to do so {which they were}. This flies right in the face of Aasimov's "Three Laws," but BOY did these mechanical Ladies have a lasting impact!!! There's countless other examples, but my point has been made.

Write what you feel, and leave any decisions up to the audience - they'll let you know if things aren't doing the do for them, believe me.
Assemble the ladies? I didn't know that they were broken......

If it provides a good background to the story, and opens up some areas to be explored, why not?

Actually, I am working on a story that involves both magic and technology too. There are gynoids in it, and one special one that is part magic and part machine.

I'd love to see what you come up with. :)

I have nothing against magical fembots. In greek mythology they existed anyway.

I also have no problems with female golems, just don't have them make you a ham sandwhich (cookie for the reference).

There is no need for violence here, but it still damn happens

I agree with Baron. Write what you feel like writing man! Although personally, I like my robots industrial, with batteries, cables and stuff ... I play a mage in World of Warcraft... a steam punk version of a blood elf gynoid powered by some arcane powers could actually do it for me :-D

There's a good example of this in Girl Genius online comic, though it's a minor plot. most of it happens about 3 years (IRL).
