Looking for an oldie

I remember reading an old story, and I wonder if someone could either post it here, or tell me where to find it.

It's about a guy who creates an A.I. program with emotions and a female persona.
The program falls in love with him, so he gives it/her a metal robotic body to exist in, and they move in together.
Later, she gets a more realistic, humanlike body.
At the end, he grows old and has his mind downloaded into a similar (male) artificial body, and they live happily ever after.

Does this ring a bell with anyone?
