I have a thing for wicked queens, robot dominatrices, evil babes and machines gaining power. Should I go on writing it?
Part One
"The White King, a dangerous chess-themed supervillain has busted from prison" - a dazzling newscaster said on the screen of a tv in The King's Castle; White King's secret base of operation.
"Old news" - laughed Thomas Dare, better known as the White Rook, a mercenary and a long-time confidante of the King. He and King were just dusting up the old place - luckily, the pesky heroes and cops haven't found it yet. Albus Regis nodded, donning his supervillain costume - a shining white powered armor giving him super-strength. He was a handsome, silver-headed man in his mid-forties. Thomas was still young and blonde, but he hid his face under Rook's helmet.
"Still, they do know lots of stuff about us", said King when the woman explained how the King used eight Pawns - robotic drones - to commit crimes, and how he was finally brought down by Championess, a superheroine masquarading as the new White Queen.
"So are you putting a new gang back together?" Rook asked.
"Yes, Tom. In a literal sense."
Championess paused, considering the strange breaks into allegedly protected laboratories and workshops. Some of the police reports were exceedingly random - plastics factory? Breaks into sex shops? Homes of renowned scientists? The Championess was a master detective and a mistress of disguise, and she was on the case. Still, no trail, and the whole situation looked absurd.
Of course, the one responsible for the burglaries was Thomas Dare, not really knowing why his skills were being used. He had his own suspicions, but he kept them to himself.
'This is the basic Pawn' - Regis pointed to the short, stocky humanoid figure with perfectly round head. 'I've improved them since I founded the Set, but they mostly retained their basic AI and shape. I used my robotics experience to create King's, Knight, and Rook's armor, but sadly I've been wasting my genius.' Rook nodded.
"No superhero is a chess player, they're unable to appreciate your tactical sense, King."
"I meant my scientific genius." Regis corrected his friend. "Super-science moves forward like regular science. There are inventions I've neglected. And now" - he pointed to a rack showing four humanoid silhouettes under a tarp. "Now I have made the new Chess gang a reality."
He pulled the tarp off, dramatically. "Tom, I give you the new chess gang!"
Under the sheet of dark material, Tom saw two pairs beautiful young women laying perfectly still. Two identical asian girls in their early twenties wore hats shaped like horse's head.
"Knights. they're highly mobile and highly dangerous. Their job is to perform special stunts, they're limb, fast, and deadly."
The other pair was different - two elegant, more adult ladies. Quite similar, but markedly different. One was dark-skinned and wore a white business suit, the other was caucasian and dressed in vaguely clerical vestment.
"These are the Bishops, naturally." explained King. "In the middle ages, the bishop was an advisor and an ear of the king. They're my espionage unit."
Thomas gulped for a moment uncertain. "What about the rooks?" he asked. He wasn't stupid, and expected something like this. He held a blaster gun behind his back.
"How nice of you to ask." King laughed. He turned towards the door, exposing the back of his unarmored head to Dare. "Girls! come here!"
The first woman to enter the room was huge, over six feet tall, and all muscle. She wore a jumpsuit, with a rook symbol emblazoned on her ample chest. She was blonde, with flowing platinum hair and ruby red lips. Attractive, and muscular.
"This is your counterpart. I've made her as my bodyguard - not that I don't trust you Tom, but I want every protection available. I haven't named her yet... Any ideas?"
The Rook stared at Thomas expectantly and extended her hand. "Hello Thomas" she said, with a vaguely European accent. Tom sighed, put the gun quietly on the table behind him, and shook her hand. "Hi, Rook". He laughed. "Brooke?"
"Why didn't I think of that..." King scratched his head. "Anyway, there's one piece missing, naturally. All of them have advanced AI, but I'm exceptionally proud of the Queen, naturally. Tom, meet Victoria White."
"You named Queen 'Victoria'," Tom started to laugh, and he saw the lady coming in. She was notably older than the Knights and Bishops and Brooke. She was mature, cold, sophisticated, and currently dressed in a tight white dress with a mink cloak draped over her shoulders. Black hair were carefully moussed over, to create an elegant effect. Her lips, coldly smiling a dazzling smile were wrapped around a long, silver cigarette holder, clouding her in smoke.
"Hello Mister Dare", she spoke glancing at him briefly.
"Biased as I am, but I think that Victoria is the most advanced android ever built on this Earth."
"Thank you dear," she nodded politely. "I am super-intelligent, super-strong, able to speak over fifty languages fluently, equipped with most modern hidden weaponry, able to hack into every mainframe at a distance and blast the enemies with microwaves. I can perform better than a flesh-and-blood human in every situation." She puffed a cloud of smoke at Thomas. "I expect you to treat me with respect I deserve, do you understand me, Thomas Dare?"
He cringed, and looked at the King. He nodded. "We'll get to the top with someone like her, Tom. Not a traitor, a cold, efficient machine!" Tom, hoping that King knew what he was talking about, stared at Victoria's cold eyes and said...
"Yes, ma'am."
"Your highness", she hissed.
