This is a fascinating way of putting it: "If Team Gay was a country, it would have finished 31st overall with seven medals, tied with Mexico, Ethiopia and Georgia. They would have beaten the medal count of such countries as Jamaica, Ireland, Argentina and India. They would have finished 21st overall for most golds (four), tied with Iran, Jamaica, Czech Republic and Korea."

Acceptance of lesbian athletes is yet another reason that Western women's teams continue to dominate out of all proportion to population. This site features a very cute photo of "the most out team at the Olympics", the Dutch women's field hockey team:

And (if you use your imagination) it looks like someone started switching off the losing Argentinians as soon as the match finished.
