Fembot Labs Discord service updates

Hello! This is a backup thread for updates on the Fembot Labs discord server in response to Discord's upcoming policy changes in March. We thought it would be a good idea to create a thread here rather than keep updates within the discord as we don't currently know when in March these policy changes will come into effect (so for the sake of getting everything done we're going to assume it will happen on the 1st), nor whether the entire server will be age gated after the deadline (afaik discord has said that they can label entire servers as age-restricted). Plus, hosting important info on something as ephemeral as an im client is never a good idea.


We're currently in the process of investigating and other services and setting up "lifeboat" servers on ones we consider viable; our aim is that we will be able to provide invites to these before the 28th. Please note that most discord alternatives as of right now are not even close to feature pairity, so any alternate sever(s) may be a little stripped down.

We do not currently plan to shut down the server on discord as we do not currently know how difficult it will become to run past the deadline and we don't want to immediately uproot everyone. In the best case scenario, the discord server will continue running pretty much normally and there are options we can take to bridge multiple services together that we can look into; in the worst case, it's still worth keeping up for at least long enough for people to send each other alternate contact details and archive any work that they'd like to keep.

We'll continue to post here and on the server to keep people informed and any action we take or alternate services we set up will be announced before the start of March. Thanks!
