HUDs! What do you (not) like?

Post by //_Lilith_// » Sat Dec 19, 2020 10:07 pm

Hey y'all! Been working on some HUD designs and thinking about making some elements to put on the wiki manip workshop.
Anything y'all like? Love? Dislike? Pet peeves? Musts? Fun tweaks? Situational?

Here's some ones I've been working on recently. Fairly simple but enough to get the idea across.

I think these are great! I love the detail that can be included into HUDs or control panels to flesh out the image world. I was particularly intrigued by the wording embossed under the right breast on 'Lilith Hacked' showing her to be an uploaded personality and I liked the way you established the sequence of events through other detals on the HUD itself. Great quality work too...

I like that they're not too cluttered.

I think the status bars should have light-colored pips and dark-colored background (the opposite of what it is now.)

Going against my desire for uncluttered, I think front/back body views with color-coded (red/yellow/green or heat-map) error levels might work.
May your deeds return to you tenfold,

I know that meters/metrics/visual graphics depicting the suspected arousal level of whoever the bot is focusing on is always super hot.
Cheers!

Gonna reply to all these in this post.

Thank you so much! I've been a big fan of your work for years! So this really means a lot to me! <3
I've been finding myself liking the story-telling capability of multiple versions showing a progression.

Thanks a ton! I definitely have more on the way! I definitely have more planned! It's a fun sort of theme to work in.

Thanks so much too! I tried to keep them rather sleek and minimalist. (Partially to save work time XD).
And yeah I agree on the black/white switch. I was thinking black since the rest of the UI was black, but that was definitely not the smoother route.
Fantastic idea on the sort of body heat-map! I'm definitely gonna have to implement that for one. I did some overloads but I definitely wanna get some damage in.

Yeahhhh that's a great idea! Something like a pleasure rental bot always having like arousal, interest, and comfort levels always in review for the user.

I like the bunny ones. Not sure about the stat bars, though. Looks more like a RPG than something a robot would need. I'm not sure what they're even representing.

While I'm at it... I've seen your stuff on the wiki and it's great. Might I suggest adding the artist's names somewhere on the description of the pictures you've commissioned, though? I'm sure they'd appreciate it and I'm curious too.

Here's the rundown on the bunny system stats: PWR = battery power, TMP = temperature, CPU = cpu of course, AIE = AI Emulation, MEM = memory (RAM, not storage), SNS = sensory (stuff like sight, touch, etc), PHS = physical activity, SEX = sexual of course. Battery power is how much is left, and temp is internal temp, but the intention with the rest is the sort of 'acceptable range'. So hitting max on all of them is pushing the body and computer parts to the fullest capabilities.

Switched it up for the 'Hacked!' one because it's a different company, and the POV is a transfer, rather than a manufactured unit.
So DSK is disk (storage) usage, USE = power usage rate, TEC = Transfer Emulation Control (how much of the system is in the actual mind's hands), CON = internet connection.

But yeah it definitely looks video-gamey. I'm gonna be exploring options for both a "user" type HUD and more machine-like utility ones.

And thanks! I can do that yeah. I'll either add it to the image title or the description
