The main question: why is there such a device built into her finger at all?

This resembles the T-X Terminator device for programming other devices. But she's not the Terminator... So this is looks weird.
PS: And by the way, what does she usually do? Is she just a housewife and has no other job?

I am remiss to be overly forthcoming given the mystery nature of the narrative, but these points aren't really intended to be unclear or mysterious so...

For first question, it's just a connector to link to other devices; I went for this exact method mostly because it seemed photogenic.

For the second, yes, she's just a housewife.
