This is not a story.

Basically, I want to use this thread to discuss some of my upcoming projects, and maybe get some feedback off my previous ones.

As of this post, I have posted 16 stories, though seven of those stories I posted in the past year were actually written, or started, from 2009-2013, but I was too afraid to post them. After posting them here, I worked on a few new ones, most notably my new Spaz Studios Presents anthology series, and a couple collaborations with member Sthurmovik.

With the old stories, I tried replicating some of what I saw in some of my favorite stories here. With the new ones, I have been trying to evolve my writing style to be more unique. With my anthology series, I am able to use self-contained vignettes as concept stories, without the stress of making them full length. As mentioned in my discussion forum post titled A Modern Look at Fembots, I am trying to make my androids more modern and less focused on the past models.

Still, the only way I can get better is if I get some feedback on my works, so I am also going to post some details on my upcoming works as well.

The Replacement: A full length offshoot of Spaz Studios Presents "Forbidden Fruit" in regards to the HRM androids, and a DPM android as well from SSP "Substitute". This is the most successful of three potential offshoot ideas I had. I am putting this story through a very rigorous editing process, so I am hoping it comes out perfect. (50% complete, with 19,000 words and counting)

Medical exam: a very short story that answers the question, "What happens when a sleeper is admitted to the hospital and accidentally put in an MRI machine?" (Will release when I have the time)

Mutation: A hacker creates a very intelligent virus which mutates when it merges with someone's budding A.I. project. (Still in development)

And I have two Spaz Studios Presents on the drawing board, hopefully coming in Fall/Winter 2014:
"The Future Expo" - Tentatively, there are going to be three different types of androids unveiled at a future expo: A domestic/housewife model, a fitness trainer model, and a secretary/business type model. Of course, since they are prototypes, they have a few bugs and cause some of the people demonstrating them some issues.

"The Repair Shop" - A repair shop run by the twin children of Greg Philips introduced at the end of The Replacement, the boy is human and the girl is an android. This would take place before those events, and would be three episodic repair scenes of different androids.

Well, those are the stories I currently have on the drawing board, and you all know what I have written thus far.

So, what, if anything, am I doing wrong? What can I improve on? What would you like to see in some of my future works?

I've enjoyed all your stories, so I'm not picky. As far as near term stories, the "Medical Exam" caught my interest. And both of your drawing board stories sound really good.

I liked how you made the fizz-pop short stories and the duplica androids (or what ever name) maybe they needed a bigger endings, i don't know., they were nice tho.

Here, I thought I'd post a snippet from my latest story, now between 50-60% done with over 21,000 words:

She came back a few moments later carrying the box of spare parts. She set it down on the table and popped open the top. “Here, take a look,” she said.

“Alright,” he said, and he pulled the box closer and looked in. He let out a gasp when he saw what was inside.

John had already told him what was inside, but the reality of seeing what was inside was a little much for him to take in. The box appeared to have several different layers. The layer on the top had two sets of her hands resting in foam, looking just as real as the ones she currently had attached, though the nails were unpainted.

With a look from her, he lifted out the top layer and set it down next to the box. The next layer had two sets of her feet, also with unpainted nails. He took that layer out and set it down next to the hand layer. The next layer had what looked like a half dozen batteries, and an extra digestive bag. He took that one out and set it down on the table.

He gasped when he saw the final layer. On the bottom, staring back up at him, was an exact copy of her head, its face stuck in a stoic expression with the eyes open. It was nestled comfortably in a deep foam mold. On one side of it was a two extra pairs of eyes in a protective case. On the other side was several spare processors.

I don't see any sleepers in the next planned SSP, but perhaps in the following one.

Also, I today I came up with a possible fourth, and definitely final part of Daydreaming...one that I feel would do a good job of explaining things in the first three parts.

Just a little update for my latest story, The Replacement.

Due to a recent bout of writer's block, which has subsided, and because I was able to think up of a few more ideas for the story and the way it is formatted, I am going to be releasing part 1 of 5 in a few days while I'm vacationing in Montana; Part 1 is split into five sub-parts, and the prologue.

Part 2 is nearly finished as well, but I have yet to work on 3-5 and the epilogue. I don't normally like doing this, instead I prefer to wait until the entire story is done, but since I don't know how long it will take to write the rest of the story, I figure it should be okay.

Tentatively, Part 2 has no sub-parts and will take place about 6-months after Part 1, Part 3 has 3 sub-parts and will take about two years after Part 1, Part 4 has 2 sub-parts and takes place about 3-6 months after Part 3, and Part 5 has none and will take place about 6 months after Part 4.

Also, some of the characters I introduce at the end will be spun off into Spaz Studios Presents "The Repair Shop", which will be more episodic than an anthology.

Well, I am well into writing and posting The Replacement now, nearly finished with part 5.3. With the conclusion of Part 4.4, this is now the longest story I have ever posted here, currently at over 60,000 words...though it is only half as long as the longest story I have ever written, though it remains to be seen if I'll ever post that one since I wrote it in Junior and Senior years of High School and it obviously contains a lot of underage content.

Anyway, today I also came up with another story idea I will work on after The Replacement. Tentatively titled "Upgrade", it is a short story about a man who receives a domestic robot as a college graduation present from an indeterminate family member. The robot has a machine-like appearance, and slowly begins to develop sentience based on the way she is treated by the man. He eventually takes her into a facility that builds such robots more human-like bodies, and she gets to pick what her new body looks like. This story is inspired by Bicentennial Man.

Yeah, I think I also forgot to mention it takes place roughly a hundred years in the future and each model is based on a present time celebrity. I've already got celebrities picked out for the fitness trainer model and the secretary model, but inspiration has yet to strike for the domestic/housewife model. I am open to suggestions though...

This one is meant to be more humorous, like Fizzy Pop was.

Anyway, it's on the back burner...I might release it around Christmas.

Well, The Replacement is gradually coming to a close, and I've just now started drafting the framework for Spaz Studios Presents: "The Future Expo".

Because of the anticipation of this one, I have decided to have five separate ministories for this one instead of the typical three. In addition to the personal trainer, the secretary, and the housewife, I have added a partier model that would be ideal for going to social scenes and have a drink with, and a perfect friend model who would be perfect to simply hang out with or use as a roommate.

As mentioned before, each android is modeled after a current female celebrity, several of which have actually played fembots recently or in the past.

I will be attempting to write each ministory in between the remaining parts of The Replacement, as well as in between my planned renovation of the Sarah Connor Chronicles gallery on FembotWiki.

Anyway, I hope I don't disappoint.

I have cancelled my story idea titled Mutation, because I couldn't think of any ideas that would make it fit my high standards.

However, I have devised a story idea that will be based off my upcoming Spaz Studios Presents "The Future Expo", titled Closed for Christmas, which I will try and release on Christmas. This story will focus on a man who owns a relatively small general store in a relatively small or otherwise low populated area. All of his employees will be androids that he has in one way or another acquired and repurposed for various tasks, such as cashier, manager, and stock tender. He will also receive a new android that will serve as a form of greeter and assistance provider. Each of the refurbished androids will have used to be one of the android types introduced in The Future Expo.

The main character will also tend his own android/computer repair shop attached to his general store. The androids tend the store for him and earn him income so he can do what he enjoys, fixing and tinkering with things. The story itself will take place on Christmas day, when his shop is closed and he has the the whole day to perform well needed upgrades and repairs to his employees.

I am finally back on track for completing Spaz Studio's Presents "The Future Expo" . After completing The Replacement, I took a break from writing and then suffered a severe bout of writer's block through the entire month of December. I am now nearly finished with one of the five ministories, the longest in fact, and would like to share a small segment of it here:

“Melanie, stop!” he shouted, hoping that might force her to shut down or something. It had no effect…clearly, she was malfunctioning.

Kevin immediately regretted leaving her control tablet in the other room, as she was now blocking his way. He quickly looked around and grabbed the only thing immediately available to him, his chair. Even as Melanie lifted her hand and prepared to slash him with the knife, he lifted the chair up and swung it directly at Melanie’s head with all his strength.

This action not only had the effect of stopping Melanie’s attack, it also had the effect of breaking her head off. Her head snapped off her neck with a loud crack and pop as the electricity still flowing through the now exposed wires and cables arced through the air. Her head flew a short distance through the air, smacking into the nearby wall and dropping unceremoniously towards the floor, with the face angled towards Kevin; he noted the facial expression it retained still had the menacing stare.

Electricity continued sparking out of Melanie’s exposed neck, but her body seemed to be disabled, so Kevin slowly put the chair down and reached towards the knife in Melanie’s hand. Just as he was about to do so, however, Melanie’s body suddenly started moving again...

I'm hoping to have the other four parts completed in the next few weeks, so I can start working on my spinoff series of this story, titled "The Small Business Chronicles" It will contain the same android types as The Future Expo, but it takes place approximately 10-20 years later, so they are considerably less buggy. Basic premise is the main character, Jack Brown, refurbishes androids that others have discarded or sold and repurposes them to operate a small convenience store, a motel, and a cafe in order to earn him and his family money while he does what he loves: repairing androids. They do occasionally break down and require repairs and upgrades, and each story will showcase him fixing an issue with one of his employees, also detailing how he acquired them.

Anyway, with these stories I am experimenting with stories that fall out of my usual comfort zone, which has been androids that are essentially artificial humans. The androids in these stories have no rights and are essentially just robotic slaves with personalities. Hopefully this will appeal to a wider audience.

I am now well underway with Part one of the Small Business Chronicles, here is a list of upcoming stories I have planned for 2015:

Daydreaming Pt. 4 - The fourth and final installment of Daydreaming, a story I wrote last Spring.

Brave New World: An anthology of stories based on the universe created in The Replacement.

Mechanical Romance: A three part story about a young man who is given a female robotic domestic unit by his father for his birthday. At first he treats her like the appliance she is, but over time, after upgrading and updating her systems, she begins to evolve and a relationship develops between them.

Haunted House - A Short: A very short vignette about very strange occurrences in a "haunted" house.

The Heiress, re-edited and completed: Back in 2011, I wrote a story titled "The Heiress". I then posted it here in 2013, but it was never finished. In the spare time between The Small Business Chronicles chapters, I am slowly re-editing the parts that were completed and I will then be finishing the story later, having it split into three separate parts.
