SOULM8TE, a sexbot spinoff of M3GAN, coming Jan 2026

"Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are developing “Soulm8te“, an erotic thriller with a technological twist that expands the “M3GAN” universe.

“Soulm8te” centers on a man who “acquires an Artificially Intelligent android to cope with the loss of his recently deceased wife,” the film’s synopsis explains. “In an attempt to create a truly sentient partner, he inadvertently turns a harmless lovebot into a deadly soulmate.” The film is described as being in the tradition of “’90s domestic thrillers but with a modern, technological twist.”

Kate Dolan (“You Are Not My Mother”) will direct the film, which Universal has dated for Jan. 2, 2026. She rewrote an original draft written by Rafael Jordan (“Salvage Marines”), with the story by James Wan, Ingrid Bisu and Jordan."

It'll be interesting to see what Millennium does to promote Subservience now... Given it's literally the same plot.

Regardless - it's awesome to see studios making some films where the fembot is the point of the story, even if it just ends up being tired old tropes with decent production value.

Now another studio needs to scoop up the film rights for Annie Bot!

A spinoff starring a sexbot? Count me in. I hope they make the sexbot obviously artificial. Y'know, soft plastic skin, seams for easy entry into her innards, etc. When can we expect a teaser or maybe some production stills?

My guess would be fall of 2025 before we get any teasers. No cast or other crew announced. They might not even have a finalized script yet.

A post- or mid-credit sequence in M3GAN 2.0 would be a nice spot for a sneak peek.
