I just recently ran across this:
http://www.graphicaudio.net/c-260-nucle ... shell.aspx
I'm only familiar with Graphic Audio's adaptations of some DC Comics miniseries, but what I've heard of their output has been pretty solid. From the looks of things, this is a whole series centered on a world with a pretty sizable fembot population, but otherwise, I have no awareness of the series. Does anyone here know more about this series? Is it any good?

Graphic Audio's whole shtick is full-cast performances with sound-effects, musical scores, and narration. The last bit makes them somewhat more flexible in terms of what kinds of things they can cover in audio format, as opposed to classic radio drama or modern audio drama. The characters don't have to describe what's happening in unnatural ways, because the narrator informs the audience of the full scene detail.
Not all their stuff is comic-book related, and I'm pretty sure Nuclear Bombshell is a series of paperback novels, though I've never run across them in any bookstore. They're actually better known for their Deathlands, Deathstalker, Stony Man, and Mack Bolan adaptations, which are heavily marketed towards over-the-road truckers.
Being neither a fan of those book series, nor an over-the-road trucker, I've stuck with the DC Comics material they did.

I think you mean "rowb't." And I agree, that's only tolerable coming from Zoidberg.

Listened to it while jogging - the pseudo-noir PI monologue gets old fast and the plot is to comicbook like to my tastes. The characters - including the dame herself - are quite entertaining, though.

This statement confuses me, for two reasons.Propman wrote:...too comicbook like...
1. I don't understand how a plot can be more similar or less similar to a comic book plot without including superheroes ala Superman, Batman, etc.
2. If there is a way that such a quality can be described, I don't understand how it would exist in excess.

The protagonist is a powerful, unbeatable space detective using pseudoscientific gadgets, and his opponents are literally villains who want to destroy the world.WilloWisp wrote:This statement confuses me, for two reasons.Propman wrote:...too comicbook like...

Sounds ridiculously over-the-top, hammy, pulpy, and even a bit pantomime, but I wouldn't necessarily say those traits are generally unique to comics.Propman wrote:The protagonist is a powerful, unbeatable space detective using pseudoscientific gadgets, and his opponents are literally villains who want to destroy the world.
That said, I've now listened to the first entry, and I agree to an extent: It is like a comic book. Specifically, it's like something from Judge Dredd (Right down to the voice-activated ammo types). The future described in the first entry is virtually indistinguishable from Megacity 1, just not quite so gritty.
This I can relate to. Having listened to the first story, I'll probably finish out the series, but not with any expectation of significant fembot content. They are present, but not in the quantity or depiction I would have preferred. This was not what I expected.
