Ok now that I got your attention there is something that is REALLY on my mind. Now I know that we have filmmakers here but sadly at this time I am not one of them.
I love to write scripts and maybe some artwork but well I feel a little embassed about it. But why the silence? I've been hearing in posts about how they want to view products without monitary compensation. But I don't think I'm hearing the ENTIRE story here. For example...
How much does it take to hire the cast and crew? How is the editing especially in post production oh and if you don't want the 'cheesy' special effects? (aka calculator taped on the back on an actress) How much will it cost to have a circuitboard with lights and LEDs imbeded in some false skin that would work as a girdle for an actress to try on?
Not every studio can hire the top of the line effect artist and HOPE to accept only a time 'donation' on behalf of an artist. Especally if that artist would need a crew.
So I'm hoping to find out from the filmmakers that have made their presense known to us in this DB how easily or challenging to come up with such a feat in this regrad. Keep in mind its before the script is even wrote up! I would like to know.
We need more films on gynoids like yesterday!

the short answer is lots. the long answer is looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooots...
i have done small time post production and editing for various short films for family and friends. Mostly weddings and the like. But i charge $40/hr and in general for me to convert 2 hours of raw material into a little 10 minute DVD or video takes up about 3-4 hours of my time. Not including the consultation, which is where i sit down with whoever is running the event and try and catch "the vision" or what they had in mind as a final product.
As for the effects, well thats never been my specialty but you need to have the software, and unless you are willing to pirate it is quite expensive. On top of that you need to have someone who knows how and what they are doing to get the final product you want.
Actor/actress's can be quite spendy, especially if you are asking them to do something that is "uncomfortable" like getting naked on camera and act like a robot.
So yeah, film production of any kind of mid to higher caliber is not something you and some friends get together and do over the weekend with a case of Mt. Dew.
