Greetings From Nickel Dakota
Hello My New Friends -
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself, as the forum policy states, and thank everyone for their kind comments regarding my recently-produced film "Automatic Visitor". A little background on me - my name is Nickel Dakota and I've been producing, through both trial and tribulation, non-pornographic fetish films for about two years and change.
I admit with some embarrasment that I was not aware this site existed. Actually, that might not be entirely true. I have heard of it before from somewhere but it didn't fully register in my recent memory until a member recently contacted me to inform me that my movie was creating some buzz over here. Normally, I post on Basictek's site and the MC Forum when marketing my ASFR films. This wonderful place must have slipped my mind during that period. Probably because the ASFR films I produce are mainly within the "freeze" aspect of the fetish. As some of you have already discovered, my recent film coincidentally portrayed a robot theme in order to bring the primary fetish across. One thing led to another and here we are.
So, I guess the best thing to do at this point is to clarify my intentions regarding future robot-themed productions which I assume and hope that some of you are interested in.
As certain people may have noticed at my site www.countdowntzebra.com as well as my Clips4sale store, I engage in primarily in fetish films that lie somewhat outside the Fembot genre and will continue to do so. Although I haven't tapped into Fembot films, I was pleasantly surprised at how well my only one was received - at least based on the comments provided.
I haven't done much research as of yet so I'm not sure which other producers cater to this community, or how many that do for that matter. I'm assuming the numbers are somewhat small, but I have heard that another producer certainly leads the pack.
That being said, regarding future Fembot productions, it's hard for me to say at this point how much I'll be commited to bringing more of them to this particular audience. The practical reason being that my production schedule is generally lacking overall. I have two fetishes that I solely produce films for at this time which do not require Fembot themes. Quite frankly, as things stand now, I'm normally only good for about two or three new releases a month.
Personally, I do find this aspect of ASFR very erotic and very appealing. Also, it was a lot of fun to shoot as there are so many new ideas to explore. Plus, there is a light-hearted aspect to it that gives the shoot an overall comfort level, although I can certainly handle some darker themes. However, it would be very refreshing to be able to start with a clean slate in another genre that also interests me.
That being said, before I adopt a regular production schedule in the Fembot realm, I think I owe it to myself and everyone involved to learn a bit more about what the audience likes to see. This is where things get tricky and I might go so far as to say that there are some ethics involved. I could go with my gut, which has usually worked for me in the past, but on a personal level I'd like to hang out here if you don't mind and get a better feel for what for what drives this fetish and most importantly which aspects I would be interested in translating onto film.
This might seem rather unorthodox, but it's very crucial for me to maintain my erotic integrity. It wouldn't be fair to any of you, or any other producers before me, to simply pander to the audience and make a film as if I'm following verbatim instructions from a cook book. My philosophy is if you don't know the fetish, if it's something that is not a genuine part of your sexual makeup, then it is somewhat undignified to produce and market films for a fetish community, in spite of the demand.
It's important to note that I do not make a living from my films. I do have a day job which happens to be my primary source of income. Fortunately, this allows me the privilege of creative freedom which I try not to take for granted. My films are a visual expression of my sexual interests. If I travel beyond that motive, I lose inspiration which inevitably shows in my work. As a result, my films tend to look "automatic" (no pun intended). And I believe, that in most cases, the audience will pick up on this. Admittedly, in regards to certain fetishes, there's so little material out there for a particular community that they will gravitate even to productions that might leave them feeling somewhat empty. But, what choice do they have? Most of the time the mainstream media just doesn't deliver or completely misses the mark. And the fetish producer's efforts serves to make up for such lack of foresight.
My personal challenge is that I am not satisfied unless everyone who buys my films agree that it meets their expectations and that it truly comes from my heart or whichever other place my erotic vision thrives. Mind you, not everyone is a fan of Nickel Dakota films. And I have lost sales in the other communities I actively engage in for not incorporating specific elements or visuals that have been repeatedly requested. Some producers do cater to these interests and are offered many thanks by the audience for doing so - particularly in the form of increased sales. However, whether these requests interest the filmmakers on a personal and artistic level remains questionable. I have been unable, in most cases, to bring myself to produce films with material that I do not find personally erotic or for the sole purpose of attracting further revenue.
However, I want to make it clear that I do not disrespect anyone who does. We all have our own reasons and many of them are justified. Certain artists, for example, must produce material that is not close to their heart in order to enable them the opportunity to afford to do otherwise when and if the opportunity arises. Believe me, I've been there myself.
In conclusion, as I mentioned before, I would like to better familiarize myself with this genre so as to develop a deeper personal connection with its erotic aspects - some of which I already recognize. In the meantime, I would be grateful and very welcome to anyone who would like to share with me (preferably through PM or my private email) any thoughts regarding the creative direction you'd like a Fembot producer to consider. Asking simply "what do you want to see in a movie" is a bit rudimentary at this point. Perhaps you can dig a little deeper and offer me your own personal ideas, suggestions and interests.
Finally, I once again want to express how happy I am to be here and hope to experience all the wonders this magical community offers.
